Endorsed guides

The following guides and instructors are club members and qualified fly fishing instructors with extensive knowledge of the club’s waters. From time to time, the club’s guides arrange fly casting workshops for members. Keep an eye on the Events page of the website and the Secretary’s newsletters for information about the next workshop.

Mark Purvis

Mark Purvis has been a club member for nearly 30 years and is the club’s River Secretary. He organises the Fisheries Team’s work parties that maintain the club waters through the close season and is accredited as a Professional Game Angling Instructor by the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA). He is also a DBS-checked Angling Trust Level 1 angling coach, licensed to teach all ages.

He is available for casting instruction and guided fishing sessions on club waters and offers discounted rates to Cotswold Flyfishers club members.

John MacArtney

John MacArtney is an accredited Professional Game Angling Instructor (single handed), certified by the Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA). He is available to support you take the next step on your fly casting journey, whether you are thinking of starting fly fishing or a seasoned angler who wants to improve their accuracy or distance casting.
John is also available to guide you on the Cotswolds Flyfishers waters. He has been a member of the club since 2017 and has been fishing for trout and grayling on southern chalk streams and in the Cotswolds since 2007. During the winter John can be booked for guided trips fly fishing for pike and perch.
