Ampney Brook

Ampney Brook

The Ampney Brook is a small spring-fed stream that flows into the Thames near Cricklade. The water is generally very clear with healthy ranunculus beds in places. It supports a good population of wild brown trout but is prone to low flows in drought years. The club’s fishing extends to nearly two miles either side of Down Ampney.

It is best fished in the earlier months of the season with a short rod (7’6” max) and chest waders.
