River Avon

Wiltshire Avon – Rushall

The club has access to just over a mile and a half of excellent trout and grayling fishing on the Wiltshire Avon upstream of Upavon. The Avon is famous as the home of Frank Sawyer and this beat is just a few miles upstream of the Services Dry Fly Fishing Association waters where he was river keeper.

The beat is in two parts either side of the confluence between the eastern and western arms of the river. The top half offers intimate small-stream fishing requiring a stealthy stalking approach while the lower half has a pool and riffle structure and is well suited to more searching tactics. The grayling population is very healthy and fishing continues on this beat through the autumn and winter. Prior booking is required.
